Personal Mastery begins with Mastery over your mind. If you’re not in charge of your thinking, you’re not in charge of your life.

I wrote this quote and a post to go with it on Instagram the other day. And when I really thought about it I realised that I had so much more to say, so I decided to continue my thoughts here.

Many people experience negative and self-limiting thoughts. Many people also believe that thoughts just appear in our minds and that we have no real control over what goes on there. And while it can certainly feel like that at times, it’s actually far from true!

The thoughts our minds present us with are the result of the life experiences we’ve had. And while it is certainly true that if you’ve had a particularly challenging life, or even a rather tough time lately, the thoughts your mind presents you with might be ones you’d rather not have… it’s also true that you have the power to choose what you focus on and give your attention to.

NEWSFLASH!!! You are in charge of what you choose to think…

So what are you choosing to give your attention to?

What thoughts are you choosing to focus on?

And what impact is that having on your happiness?

I was having a conversation with one of my incredible clients the other day and he told me all about how he’s been feeling and all of the amazing changes that he’s noticed since we began working together.

He has been an absolute rock star and has experienced an incredibly profound transformation in a very short space of time.

The profound transformation was inevitable… however the period of time was shortened due to a number of things. One of them is how he has applied himself to the work we’ve done together.

He took absolute responsibility for feeling better and getting his life to the place that he wanted it to be.

One of the many things he’s been super vigilant about was his thinking and on what he was choosing to give his attention to.

Instead of focusing on things that left him feeling depleted and demotivated he chose to choose to think thoughts that helped to shift his energy and vibration to a higher level, elevating the way he feels and inspiring him to continue taking inspired action towards feeling better.

The more you challenge and change your thinking, even if it’s be programmed to think in a particularly negative way, and EVEN if that type of thinking has been going on for a really long time, the less you will think in that way. The greater the effort you make to feel better by changing the way you think, the better you WILL feel.

By changing the thought process from negative to positive, or even just by choosing to think a better feeling thought (if going from negative to positive is too big of a leap) you’re rewiring the way that your brain works.

If you imagine the thoughts you have as if they are running on a train that is used to going along a particular set of train tracks, when you challenge and change the way you think and by doing so, choose positive or better thoughts, it’s like you choose a different track for your thought processes to run on.

The old way of thinking may well be ingrained and very habitual, but it doesn’t mean that it is impossible to change it.

Does it take effort?

Yes.

Do you have to pay attention to what you’re thinking?

Yes.

Is it worth it if it results in you feeling happier and achieving greater outcomes?

ABSOLUTELY YES!!!

If you want to feel good and happy and if you’re determined to achieve more and get more from life it’s really important to start taking responsibility for feeling better. If you keep focusing on thoughts that keep you stuck and feeling like crap, you’ll continue to cause yourself more pain simply by continuing to have your focus be there. Start focusing on raising your vibration and choose to think thoughts that feel better, you’ll do exactly that.

But realise that it is your choice and that you can do something about the way you feel just by changing the way you think. Magic isn’t it!

The mind is so incredibly powerful and when you really begin to harness the power of it and start using it to improve your life, you’ll start noticing remarkable changes straight away!

I’d love to know what you think about all of this and how you could apply this to your thinking. Please leave me a comment below and I’ll be sure to respond to you soon.

P.S. In  my next blog post, I’ll be sharing more about what you can do about negative self-talk and I have a very special free gift to share with you too… you won’t want to miss out!
